The school census will provide a snapshot of your school on 19 January. You should contact your local authority to find out the deadline for submitting your school census data to them. Data must reach us no later than 15 February. We use data from the census to determine how much funding you will receive. Guidance on submitting your school census return is available.

 April 2017: apprenticeship levy

We will introduce the apprenticeship levy in April 2017. Funding for apprenticeship training and assessment raised through the levy will allow employers in England to increase both the quantity and quality of apprenticeships. It will be payable through Pay As You Earn (PAYE) on pay bills over £3 million. It applies to all UK employers, including schools. Schools and local authorities need to assess whether they will have to pay the apprenticeship levy. Further information about how the levy will work is available.
