Year 1 - Badger Class and Hedgehog Class
During Spring Term One, our theme is Rainforest Ramble
As Scientists we will identify and name a variety of common animals including fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals and will look at their diets. We will describe and compare the structure of a variety of common animals.
As Geographers we will learn to use maps of the UK and the world and name and locate the land and the seas. We will learn about geographical similarities and differences between Great Wakering and the rainforest.
As Writers we will label animals, write sentences to describe them and make a riddle so our friends can guess what they are. We will write a recount of our ‘Animal experience’.
As Chefs we will be learning to use kitchen utensils safely to prepare a fruit kebab.
As Artists we will develop a wide range of art and design techniques using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space by creating a jungle scene. We will mix paints and create 3D foliage.
In English, we will be learning how to:
Extend sentences using 'and'.
Add 'ed' to regular verbs
Add description by using adjectives
Continue to punctuate sentences with a oapital letter and full stop
In Maths, we will be learning how to:
Group into tens and ones
To count in ones to 100
To count in 2s to 20
